WFCKC Official Club Trips Always Needed and more trip leaders

If you go on club trips and have never been a trip leader before, please contact any of our staff for more information on becoming a trip leader. It’s not that difficult to lead trips and you get to pick your favorite creek/river. The first few times as a leader you can partner with some of our experienced trip leaders. They will help you get started.

Our club provides most importantly, wonderful trips to some of our region's beautiful rivers, creeks, bayous and bays.   Our paddling trips are generally in northwest Florida, southern Alabama and southern Mississippi.

Our Club's Constitution and ByLaws provides further explanation of our club's purpose and the responsibilities of members and staff.

Northwest Florida is a destination for paddlers from around the country.  We are fortunate to call this region home.

You can also find contact information if you are interested in joining us, either as a guest on one of our outings, or as a member.  A membership application can be found on the site as well. We would enjoy having you paddle with us.

Keep in mind that paddling, or any water related activity, is inherently dangerous.  Our club encourages safety above all else. If you are uncertain of your paddling ability, it is recommended that you participate in an American Canoe Association class.  Due to fluctuating water levels, hazards or unexpected pull-overs, even easy trips may prove challenging for inexperienced paddlers.  Our Trip Leaders may suggest you don't paddle on more difficult trips.  Just remember, each person must decide if they are able to help in any rescue situation.
If you want to become a member of the West Florida Canoe &

Kayak Club, please read the our Statement of Individual Responsibility and Pet Guidelines .

TATE’S HELL S.F. & WOMACK CREEK CAMPSITES INFO
courteous of Marylyn & Ed Fever

The listing of Tate's Hell Campsites in Reserve America is a mess and anyone who has tried to find it will probably not get the site they thought they had reserved.  The 56 campsites in the state forest is listed under 11 different locational categories.

I have put together a guide to all the campsites and under which location in Reserve America you can find it.  I don't have it in word file, but it's on www.tateshell-blackwaterriver.com  and can be searched by "How to Find..."

The title of the blog is "How to Find Tate's Hell SF Camp sites on Reserve America."  You will have to access from the Tate's Hell web the map of the forest which indicates all the campsites, then search the blog for the proper # site and you will find the under what campground it is listed under.  The map doesn't include the two new Cash creek sites, but Reserve America has it and I have indicated it on the guide.

Also..in short order, the bathroom/showers at Womack Creek campground will be shut down because the Ochlockonee River is about 1 foot away from one section of the foundation of that facility.  As soon as I am notified, I will post.  There are two electrical sites at Womack Creek Campground (and cannot be found by looking under Tate's Hell SF Womack Creek Primitive Camp Sites).  To reserve a site at the Womack Creek Campground you will have to search on Reserve America by Tates (no apostrophe) Hell state Forest Womack Creek Campground.

When we have time, Ed and I will post on that site, which sites are suitable for paddlers to camp.  On the New River there are some landings which have very abrupt drops and can be dangerous when the tide is outgoing.  Not only might you miss your footing when the tide is ebbing, but you may also lose your boat if you fall in. (This recently happened to someone we know -- the boat was retrieved by companions.)
